The Context & Objective
To create a meditation app that not only looks aesthetically pleasing but also enhances the user's healing experience through scientifically-backed psychological techniques, catering to the unique needs of users in the Arab world.
The Client's main goal is to have the meditations and courses front and center for the user and avoid as much clutter as possible.
Discovery
The client identified their main competitors as Headspace, Calm, and Mindvalley. They requested that the app's primary features focus on courses and e-learning. Additionally, they wanted to avoid the visual clutter found in Calm and the complex navigation of Mindvalley, while not adopting the overly minimalistic and simple approach of Headspace.
The Problems
Visual Clutter: Calm's interface was identified as being too cluttered, which could overwhelm users and detract from the meditation experience.
Complex Navigation: Mindvalley's navigation was considered overly complicated, making it difficult for users to find and access content quickly and efficiently.
Over-Simplicity: Headspace's minimalistic design, while clean, was deemed too simple, lacking the depth and engagement needed for a comprehensive e-learning experience.
Cultural Relevance: Existing competitors did not cater specifically to the cultural nuances and preferences of the Arab world, which was a key focus for KEEWAR.
Feature Integration: Balancing the integration of courses and e-learning features without overwhelming the user or compromising on usability and aesthetics.
The Outcome
Results and Impact
Enhanced User Engagement: User testing showed that the app's design effectively engaged users without overwhelming them, thanks to a balanced approach between visual appeal and functionality.
Improved Usability: Testers reported that the simplified navigation allowed easy access to courses and e-learning content, leading to high user satisfaction during the testing phase.
Cultural Relevance: Feedback from testers in the Arab world was positive, indicating that the app's cultural tailoring resonated well with the target audience.
Feature Integration: The integration of courses and e-learning features was well-received, with users appreciating the comprehensive yet accessible content.
Positive Test Feedback: Early testers praised the app for its intuitive design, cultural relevance, and the effectiveness of its psychological techniques.
Pre-Launch Positioning: KEEWAR is poised to enter the market as the first app in the region combining modern psychology with meditation, with strong potential to distinguish itself from competitors like Headspace, Calm, and Mindvalley.
Future Growth Potential: Based on testing feedback, the app has significant potential for growth upon launch, with the groundwork laid for increased downloads, user engagement, and market presence.
